Profile
In the local Yawuru language ‘Narlijia’, means ‘True for you’.
Narlijia Experiences hosts several tours sharing the beauty and richness of Broome’s natural environment, history and culture by true local guides!
Broome’s townsite was officially gazetted in 1883 but had earlier arrivals of pearlers and pioneers who made ‘first contact’ with the Aboriginal people of the region, the Djugun and Yawuru people.
Join us on one of our experiences that guides you through these ancient and historical sites located in the north-western portion of the UNESCO listed Roebuck Bay. This coastline has been home to our saltwater people for thousands of years and for you our guides will orientate you in the cultural landscape, offer a seasonal sample of food sources whilst immersing you in our fascinating history and beautiful coastal environment.
Don’t leave Broome with out it!
Phenomenal cultural tour. We were blown away by this tour of the mangroves, dune landscape and marine environment. We trundled off in special rubber diving boots and walked across the mud flats. The tour covers dream time stories, catching mud crabs, bush foods, and a range of Aboriginal cultural practices. Everyone visiting Broome should do this tour if they can. Bart is the real deal. This is a thoughtful, intelligent and respectfully delivered tour that provides real insight. Bart is one of only two guides based out of Broome talking about his culture. We need to support locals who are passionate about educating us and establishing sustainable businesses for their people! A fabulous tour for the kids with all that mud but not so good if you are wearing your fancy white trousers. Prepare for a little mud splatter! This tour is better suited to someone steady on their feet.
