Cockatoo Cabin

Property is dog friendly with new enclosed backyard. Please clean up after your dog with bags provided.

A cosy cabin away from the noisy tourist area of central Halls Gap. Updated furnishings and a great base for walks in the area, visiting wineries, or just relaxing in nature. Birds visit daily, and kangaroos often stop in the front yard in the afternoon. The cabin comes equipped with all the essentials, plus extras such as books, games, internet and Netflix (should the weather turn inclement). Wifi provided.

The space

There is a queen bed in the main bedroom. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with double bed on the bottom. There is a port-a-cot in the cabin for your use (please supply own linen), we also have some booster seats for the younger ones (not suitable for infants).

Guest access

There is a BBQ on the deck for your use. We believe in late check-out whenever we stay somewhere, so we’re giving our guests the same. Check-in is by keycode and available from 2pm on the first day of your booking. Early check-in may be available (pending other bookings) for an additional fee. Please ask!

Getting around

There are many restaurants and cafes in the area. The closest restaurant is a short 10 min stroll away, with central Halls Gap 20 mins walk, or just a few minutes drive. BYO bike for best access in peak tourist times.

Other things to note

All bed linen and towels are supplied. Please advise accurate numbers so we can ensure all is prepared for your stay.

There are several steps leading up to the front of the house, but no steps at the back.

Parking is available in front of the cabin or to the right hand side (far side from driveway).

Kitchen supplies: there are pots, pans and a few oven trays, as well as standard kitchen utensils.

There’s cling wrap and aluminium foil, salt and pepper.

Please bring all other food as well as your preferred cooking oils, herbs, spices and other condiments.

House manual

There is a welcome book inside the cabin with details of the facilities, wi-fi details and instructions on how to use the TV etc. It also has a helpful guide for check-out time. Note excess cleaning charges will apply should the cabin not be left in a tidy condition. These are outlined in the check-out guide. Brochures about local attractions can be found in the desk in the back room.
